Finding the Dove

If you are anything like me, then finding the Dove is little harder than it sounds. In fact it might be more accurate to let the Dove find us. As we venture into a new series at NewGen, SOLA SPIRITUS, we have an opportunity to redefine our understanding of the Holy Spirit, as well as how we approach Him.

My desire as a lifegroup is that we would be ushered into a deeper understanding and subsequent relationship with the Holy Spirit. I thirst for the unity of Spirit that we might attain as we amplify the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Holy Spirit is sovereign, and He will not be manipulated, undermined or mocked. We will never have signs and wonders on tap. Nor will we ever have long lasting benefits from the miraculous alone. We do not pursue signs and wonders, we pursue the God of signs and wonders.

If we would take God seriously and apply our hearts to the gentle promptings of His Spirit, then we might be drawn into an unrivalled intimacy. Our temporal fantasizing will fade as we gently gain an eternal perspective of the mighty God we serve. Think of a Dove searching for a place to rest. I urge you then to simplify things, take a breath, a moment and take stock. Create a perch in your life that the Dove of God might rest upon.

As the week winds to an end, let’s prepare our hearts for more spiritual nourishment this Sunday. See you all there for set up. Please be sure to keep Jules and Kurt in your prayers.

Little John the Baptist

Johnny's Mother looked out the window and noticed him "playing church" with their cat.

He had the cat sitting quietly and he was preaching to it.

She smiled and went about her work.

A while later she heard loud meowing and hissing and ran back to the open window to see Johnny baptizing the cat in a tub of water.

She called out, "Johnny, stop that! The cat is afraid of water!"

Johnny looked up at her and said,
"He should have thought about THAT before he joined my church!"

Welcome!

Welcome lifegroup peeps.

As you are no doubt well aware, we are lucky enough to be part of the best lifegroup ever.

This blog is something of an experiment... as you guys know I am a bloggie dork type which is why I am married to stef - who is manly and rugged and not a nerd like me. Hopefully we will balance each other out in this experiment or at the very least provide some entertainment!

This blog can be whatever we want it to be. A forum for discussion. A place for prayer requests. A planning platform. And other random stuff. Let us know your thoughts.

And as a seasoned blogger, can I ask that you don't just read... leave a comment (if you battle, let me know and I'll walk you through it) - feedback is NB.

Adios amigos!
